Here is a short example of two characters in an inimate fight, written in a Script Format.
EXT. CORNY’S DINER – NIGHT
It’s Raining.
The pink neon sign of Corny’s Diner lights up the mostly empty parking lot.
A motorbike rolls up to the diner. The driver wears a faded red leather jacket. The biker takes their helmet off, revealing ANNA ‘RED’ NILSEN.
Her hair: wet and disheveled, mascara stains run down her cheeks, her eyes are red. Though whether she’s sad or enraged, remains unclear.
She looks into the diner. Locking eyes onto a man; DEAN ‘WOLF’ VARG, mid-conversation with another lady as they share a Sundae.
She dismounts her bike, but keeps a hold of her helmet.
INT. CORNY’S DINER – NIGHT
The jukebox is playing ‘REBELL YELL’ – Billy Idol.
A middle-aged woman – in uniform – approaches RED.
WAITRESS
Hey doll, table for one?
RED doesn’t acknowledge the waitress, her eyes locked onto WOLF. WOLF’s back is facing RED, he seems to be having a lively conversation with the young blonde girl.
RED steps up to the table. CINDY and WOLF are sharing a Sundae, a stack of empty plates sits on the edge of the table. CINDY peaks up, still laughing at the joke, but abruptly stops when she sees RED. WOLF also looks up and is both surprised and confused.
WOLF
Oh shit. Red? What are you doing here?
WOLF looks flustered, he turns to Cindy about to say something when BANG.
‘REBEL YELL’ begins its chorus in time with the first strike.
WOLF’s head slams onto the table, RED wields the bike helmet like a gauntlet. He’s not moving. There’s a brief moment of silence until suddenly CINDY shrieks, she scrambles to get as far away from RED as possible. Other patrons instantly turn towards RED.
The WAITRESS has quickly moved to the back of the bar, she calls the police.
WOLF groans, RED notices he’s not dead and goes to crush his skull again but he moves out of the way just in time. The helmet slams into the table, shattering its glass visor. WOLF swipes a steak knife from the pile of plates and plunges it into RED’s hip. She falters for a moment, just long enough for WOLF to crack his glass bottle against her face.
He suddenly propels himself from the booth and kicks RED in the chest, she falls back against the jukebox, the song skips. WOLF seizes the opportunity to throw himself onto her. His hands lock around her throat and starts squeezing. The two lock eyes, a smirk on WOLF’S face, RED also smiles. RED grabs the steak knife lodged in her hip, yanking it out and stabbing WOLF in the forearm.
He instinctively lets go with a pained shout, RED shoves him off and stumbles away from him. She touches her cheek, pulling a glass shard from it. WOLF tears the steak knife out of his forearm and drops it on the floor.
WOLF
If you wanted to see me, all you had to do was say.
RED pauses for a moment then hops over the bar and into the kitchen, instantly WOLF takes chase.
INT. CORNY’S DINER KITCHEN – NIGHT
RED bursts into the kitchen, a lone cook stands chopping vegetables, his head swivels as he sees a bloody-faced woman storm into the room. WOLF is close behind, RED bolts past, briefly slipping on the greasy floor but she manages to regain her footing. She haphazardly grabs a kitchen pot off the stove, throwing it behind her.
WOLF doesn’t notice in time and endures a torrent of boiling water onto his chest. RED slams shoulder-first into the backdoor, stumbling into the back alley of the diner.
EXT. CORNY’S DINER BACK ALLEY – NIGHT
RED stumbles out, having a few seconds headstart on WOLF, she hides behind the door. When it opens and WOLF steps out, RED kicks him in the knees, there’s a loud crunch as he topples over. She suddenly dives onto him, her hands seizing his throat as she uses all of her strength to crush his neck.
WOLF’s hands blindly look for something to use, when he finds nothing, he resorts to reaching for her throat too. But slowly he grows weaker and weaker. As his vision blurs, he begins to see the tears falling from her eyes.
